CenterState Bank, which acquired First Southern Bank of Boca Raton last year, is expanding in South Florida.
It opened a branch Monday at 10891 North Military Trail in Palm Beach Gardens. CenterState bought the location from the holding company of SouthBank, which is based out of Huntsville, Ala., and used to have a branch there.
Managing the new CenterState branch will be Tammy Rockefeller, who has more than 25 years’ experience at First Southern Bank and Fidelity Federal.
CenterState Bank now has four branches in Palm Beach County and three in Broward.
CenterState, headquartered in Davenport, just southwest of Orlando, has made it a priority to expand in South Florida. In 2013, it bought the parent company of Stuart-based Gulfstream Business Bank, which had two branches in Palm Beach County.
CenterState now is one of the larger banks based in Florida with about $4 billion in assets.
